Fresh energy at The Top House as new chef takes over

A renewed sense of energy and ambition is taking hold at The Top House, Annacotty as experienced chef Frederic Duarte steps into the role of Executive Chef.

The popular local pub and restaurant recently bid farewell to their Head Chef whose departure marks the end of one chapter, but the beginning of another filled with promise.

Duarte, known to many as Freddie, brings over 20 years of experience in Ireland’s culinary scene, with deep roots in Limerick cuisine.

His career includes nearly a decade as Head Chef with the Savoy / Hamptons Group, followed by successfully leading the kitchen at The Old Quarter. Freddie’s strong local reputation and understanding of the region’s dining culture make him a natural fit for the role.

Now firmly at the helm, Duarte is already planning a refresh of the food offering, with new menus and dishes designed to both surprise and satisfy customers.

“I’m really excited to be coming on board at The Top House at such an important time,” Duarte said. “Bringing in fresh ideas while keeping the heart of what people love about it. We’ve got some exciting things in the works, and I can’t wait for people to see.”

The changes are expected to blend creativity with familiarity, ensuring that long-time patrons still feel at home while enjoying something new.

With momentum building behind the scenes, The Top House is encouraging locals to keep an eye out in the coming weeks.

If early signs are anything to go by, this new chapter could mark a significant new chapter for one of Annacotty’s favourite dining spots.
