From deep roots planted in Dunmanway, West Cork, FDC Group has continued to spread its branches far across Ireland, intertwining with countless communities across many counties.
While growth has always been a primary goal for the organisation over the last 53 years, FDC has always remained true to its Cork origins, continuously seeking opportunities for expansion across the county. Recently, FDC Group has acquired Murray, Cloney & Associates Limited in Charleville, marking an impressive 51 offices.
Founded in 1988 by Michael Murray and Paul Cloney, Murray, Cloney & Associates Limited operated out of its established base in the Charleville Business Centre, after relocating from Main Street, Charleville in 1998. Driven by dedicated and professional staff who consistently delivered professional and personalised client service, the business grew over the following three decades to offer an impressive range of taxation and accounting services across various industries.
Regarding the recent acquisition, Co-Founder Paul commented, “After over 30 years in practice, I am delighted to have secured the continuation of a personalised and professional service to my clients through this acquisition by FDC Group. It gives me great comfort to know that my clients will continue to receive a dedicated and excellent service from FDC, while also allowing them to avail of the additional suite of services that FDC has to offer.”
Tim Hurley, Regional Manager of FDC Group's Western Region, has overseen the acquisition and is proud to welcome the new team to the group. “FDC Group merging with Murray, Cloney & Associates Limited is an incredible addition to the group, expanding our reach even further into the North Cork and South Limerick geography. We want to thank Paul and Michael for their trust and cooperation, and we look forward to this collaboration with great anticipation for the future of serving our clients with a full-service offering.”
Michael Thompson, Area Manager of the Charleville office, is ready for the future. “I am delighted to be a part of the FDC family and to take over the management role in our Charleville Office,” Michael acknowledged. “It is exciting times for our team, and we will continue to provide the best service possible to our existing and new clients under the FDC banner.”
Co-Founder Michael shared his thoughts on the acquisition, saying, “I am pleased to share that my dedicated team will transfer to FDC, ensuring continuity and familiarity for my valued clients. Both Paul and I remain part of the team, so very little change will be apparent on the ground. This team is what brought us to where we are now. It’s important to both of us that the longevity of the practice is secure, given the team we have.
"We are part of the fabric of Charleville, having already served three generations in some families. As the practice expands locally, a much greater degree of specialisation is required to continue providing the professional service that is expected.”
Looking into what the future holds, Michael acknowledged his considerable gratitude and confidence.
“Reflecting on over three decades in practice in Charleville and beyond, we would like to express our sincere thanks to our client base for their trust, support and valued business. We also acknowledge the contribution made by each and every staff member who worked with us over the years. We are confident that both staff and clients have a bright future with us in an expanded practice under the FDC brand.”
