Elektrotek, based in the National Technology Park Limerick was awarded with the One to Watch winner award by the Local Enterprise Office Limerick at the prestigious National Enterprise Awards 2024, County Final in the Engine, Cecil Street Limerick on March 8.

Although the origins of Elektrotek goes back some years, this is a company that is constantly evolving and adapting to set the pace in an ever changing environment and this award is recognition of their determination and drive to continually delivering on and exceeding their customers expectations.

The National Enterprise Awards are organised by Ireland's network of Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) to give recognition to the contribution of micro enterprises to the local and national economy.

Since 1983, Elektrotek has been at the forefront of producing cutting-edge test equipment and solutions for a diverse clientele.

According to Derek Somers, Managing Director of Elektrotek, “Our commitment to quality service has been the driving force behind our growth which is why in 2019, Elektrotek welcomed Somtek Ltd. as a strategic partner, with the acquisition of a 33.3% stake. This move expanded our capabilities into the exciting realm of 3D printing, allowing us to explore new horizons”.

Fast forward to 2023, and Elektrotek made another significant move by acquiring the electronics assembly and repair business from Bright Solutions.

Derek Somers states that “This strategic acquisition catapulted Elektrotek into a new league of PCB manufacturing capabilities, including BGA placement and repair. Contract manufacturing now forms a substantial part of our business, enabling us to offer end-to-end solutions to our clients”.
