Ireland senior men's goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu has been ruled out for between 9-10 months after suffering an achilles injury prior to a game for Southampton at the weekend.
His club Southampton confirmed that he had surgery during the week and is now focused on his recovery.
The injury occurred during a warm-up before the Watford game last weekend, and Bazunu has since undergone an operation with a full recovery expected.
It is particularly bad luck for the young Dubliner as Southampton are currently in the play-offs spots in the English Championship and in the hunt for promotion back to the Premier League, with four games remaining.

Get well soon, Gav ❤️
Having been ruled out until early 2025, the injury will see Bazunu miss Ireland’s June double-header against Hungary and Portugal.
He will also miss the upcoming Nations League campaign later this year, which begins at home to England in September before clashes against Greece and Finland.
