Three million euros worth of suspected drugs found in vehicle search

Over three million euros worth of suspected cocaine and cannabis has been seized by Gardai in Dublin.

In a statement, gardai said the drugs were found after they stopped a vehicle in Dolphin’s Barn in Dublin 8 on Tuesday evening.

It, and the driver, were brought to a garda station in south Dublin for searches and it was then around 44kg of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of 3 million euros, was found.

The driver, a man in his 40s, was arrested and is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.

A follow-up search at a home in Tallaght, Dublin 24, uncovered 10kg of suspected cannabis with an estimated value of 200,000 euros.

Investigations are ongoing and the seized drugs are being analysed by Forensic Science Ireland.
