More than eight million euros of drugs seized from vans

More than eight million euros of drugs seized from vans

More than eight million euros worth of drugs was seized during an operation into organised criminal activity.

Some 110 kilograms of suspected cocaine and 1.5 kilograms of suspected heroin was recovered from two vans on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Gardai also confiscated £38,000 and 63,000 euros in cash.

During the operation, search warrants were executed at 16 properties across South Dublin, West Dublin, Meath, Westmeath, Laois, and Offaly.

Gardai from the Terenure Drugs Unit led the operation with support from the Serious Crime Unit Terenure, the DMR South Divisional Crime and Community Engagement Units.

The Dublin Crime Response Team, the DMR Armed Support Unit and the Stolen Car Unit of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation were also involved.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking offences.

He has been detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda station in the Dublin Region.

The drugs that were seized have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

A total of 12,565,000 euros has been seized and 23 arrests have been made over the course of the ongoing investigations.
