Casey had just scored Limerick's second goal of the game, injuring himself in the process of the act. Speaking after the game manager John Kiely said there was "huge devastation for Peter."
"Peter has come back from a serious injury before and come back very strong. I have no doubt that Peter has the capacity to do that again," said John, who said Peter is an "incredible talent".
Back in 2021 Casey suffered a cruciate ligament injury sustained in Limerick's All-Ireland final win and has only been finding his form in the last few seasons once again.
He was named Man of the Match in the 2023 All-Ireland hurling final following a scintillating display as Limerick toppled The Cats for a second year in the decider.
