Met Éireann is warning that spot flooding can be expected this Tuesday night as heavy rainfall is set to replace the recent dry and sunny weather.
The national forecaster has issued a status yellow rain warning for five counties - Dublin, Louth, Meath, Wexford and Wicklow.
"Rain will become heavy at times and persistent," states the warning, which is the first to be issued for a number of weeks.
It will come into effect at 9pm this Tuesday and will remain valid until 2pm on Wednesday.
According to Met Éireann, potential impacts include spot flooding and motorists are being urged exercise caution if driving late tonight or tomorrow morning.

It it's latest forecast, Met Éireann says it will be cloudy on Tuesday night with outbreaks of rain in most places. In contrast to recent weeks, overnight temperatures could drop below zero in some places leading to a risk of frost - particularly in the west and south-west.
It will stay cloudy on Wednesday with persistent rain in parts during the morning with some heavy bursts. Sunny spells will develop in most places on Wednesday afternoon while temperatures will range from 6 to 13 degrees.
