An Irish weather expert is downplaying the chances of Ireland being impacted by another Beast from the East weather system later this month.
Commenting on the latest long-range weather charts, Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather urged people not to panic and not to stockpile bread and milk.
In a post on social media, he confirmed the long-range weather chart does indicate a Beast from the East system has formed over the Atlantic Ocean and that it could impact Ireland in a fortnight's time.
However, as of now, there are indications that Ireland will not experience the same weather event as in February 2018.

Highlighting a black line on the weather chart which is "completely out of kilter" with other readings on the chart, he says the chances of there being another Beast from the East are small.
"If you see that chart, then you can know that it's very very unlikely. It is a possibility - yes it is," he stated adding: "There have been some signals to increase the risk of a cold easterly around the middle of the month but it's very very uncertain so no panic for the bread and the milk for now."
