The Garreenleen community is set to receive a welcome boost thanks to a new Community Benefit Fund linked to the nearby
Garreenleen Solar Farm, developed by the renewable energy company Ørsted.
As part of Ireland’s Renewable Electricity Support Scheme, funds will be contributed annually to support local projects.
These projects are designed to deliver long-term, positive impact in the surrounding areas, with a focus on promoting sustainability, community development, education, and local well-being.
Ørsted is calling for members of the community who are interested in joining the Garreenleen Fund Committee.
The Fund Committee shall have between 3 and 12 volunteers from the local community. They will be part of an influential, decision-making body, as allocation of funds to successful initiatives will have to be approved by the Committee.
This ensures a transparent and collaborative approach, so that funding truly reflects local needs and priorities.
Ørsted welcomes applications from local residents, representatives of community organisations or schools, and community-
minded individuals.
No prior experience is required, just a passion for your community and a commitment to fairness and transparency. Training and support will be provided by Ørsted.
If you live near Garreenleen and would like to help shape how the Community Benefit Fund is spent, you can reach out to
Ørsted directly.
Email your expression of interest to: communitybenefitieuk@orsted.com
Deadline for applications is September 26, 2025.
