Broadway Ted takes Dublin Racing Festival finale

Broadway Ted just held on to win the concluding Paddy Power Cheltenham Countdown Podcast (C&G) I.N.H. Flat Race at Leopardstown and secure a one-two-three for Gordon Elliott on a good afternoon for the Cullentra House handler.

Mossy Way made the early running, but as they turned for home it looked like it was going to be battle between Elliott’s three Gigginstown Stud runners – With Nolimit, Charismatic Kid and Generous Risk.

But Broadway Ted (18-1) spoiled the party for Michael O’Leary’s outfit, taking it up before holding off a late charge for the line from With Nolimit by a short head.

The five-year-old was maintaining his perfect record after marking his racecourse debut with an impressive victory at Ayr in December.

“He was very good in Ayr. He’s a pacey horse, he works very well and it was a good performance,” said Elliott, who was recording a treble on the day and his fifth win of the two-day Dublin Racing Festival.

“They are all nice horses. They are big staying horses, that’s the type of horse I have. We have a lot of nice horses and we’re absolutely delighted.

“To get five winners is unbelievable and we’re delighted.”
