Appeal for driver who fled scene of fatal three-car crash in Limerick

An appeal has been issued for a driver who was involved in a fatal three-car crash in Limerick overnight.

The incident took place on the N24 near Grange West, Boher at around 11.10pm on Friday.

A woman aged in her 30s, who was the only person in one of the cars, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man aged in his 40s, the driver and sole occupant of another car, was taken to University Hospital Limerick to be treated for injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.

Gardai said the driver of the third car “fled” and left the vehicle they were driving at the scene.

The woman’s body was taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The coroner has been notified.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera or dash-cam footage and were travelling on the N24 near Grange West, Boher, between 10.45pm and 11.30pm on Friday are asked to get in contact with Gardai.

The N24 between R505 and L1132 has been closed pending a technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.
