Gardaí were then alerted a short time later of a dangerous driving and public disorder incident on Maudlin Street.

During the incident on Maudlin Street, a man and a woman, both aged in their 30s, were assaulted.

They were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, where they received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of these incidents, two men in their 30s and a woman in her 20s were arrested at the scene.

They are currently being detained at a Garda station in Kilkenny under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. A vehicle has also been seized under the Road Traffic Act.

Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed these incidents to come forward. In particular, they are seeking video footage from the area, including dash-cam recordings, from anyone who was on the Old Dublin Road or Maudlin Street between 2:30pm and 3:15pm on the day in question.

Residents of Maudlin Street who may have CCTV footage are also asked to contact investigating Gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
