The Traitors’ Fiona reveals reasons she chose murder shortlist

The Traitors’ star Fiona has revealed the reasons why she chose the names on her murder shortlist as a secret traitor during her time on the hit BBC show.

Speaking on BBC Radio 2’s The Scott Mills Breakfast Show, the 62-year-old opened up about her “wonderful experience” on the show and spoke about her strategy in the game.

Fiona was banished from the reality TV show last Friday after her attempt to oust fellow traitor Rachel made her a core suspect.

During her time on the show, the local government officer took on the role of the secret traitor – a new twist to the game which saw her identity concealed to all the players and the viewers.

As the secret traitor, Fiona had been providing the other traitors with a shortlist of potential murder victims.

When asked how she chose her shortlist, she said: “I thought they were the three most faithful, and that’s why their names were on the list.

“When you think of Netty, Ben and Maz – they just had faithful written over them.

“Netty was fantastic, she’s so friendly, beautiful and open-hearted. Ben, a veteran and he was clever.

“And Maz, his whole aura was one of love and peace.

“I wasn’t privy to the chats going on in the turret. They didn’t know why I was putting these names.”

She also said that as she has been watching the show, she has “loved” watching her fellow traitors – Rachel, Stephen and Hugo – try to figure out her identity as the red-cloaked secret traitor.

Fiona was banished from the show after she turned on Rachel, 42, and called her a liar for telling the group that banished faithful Amanda had confided in her and revealed she was a former police detective prior to her departure.

The 62-year-old insisted that Amanda would have told her instead, because many of her family members are police officers.

Speaking about the explosive row that left viewers on the edge of their seats, Fiona called herself a “plonker”.

She said: “We had a watch party here for the final episode when they booted me out, and rightly so.

“All the family were here and they’re quite noisy.

“I’m going to have to sit down and watch it again – as it was impossible to take it all in.”

Speaking about her time on the show, Fiona said: “It was only six episodes but it felt as if I had been there a lifetime. It was a wonderful experience.”

The full interview with Fiona can be heard on Wednesday’s edition of The Scott Mills Breakfast Show.

The Traitors continues on BBC One and iPlayer on January 14 at 8pm.
