Celebrity Traitors star Cat Burns to read CBeebies bedtime story about fibbing

Celebrity Traitors star Cat Burns will take a break from backstabbing and betrayal to read a CBeebies bedtime story about fibbing and the importance of honesty.

The London singer, 25, who is among a host of new readers on the show, will appear alongside a teddy bear wearing a traitors-style cloak, when she reads from Tom Percival’s book Finn’s Little Fibs, in an episode airing on Friday October 24.

The Mercury Prize-nominated artist currently appears as a contestant on the celebrity version of The Traitors, a BBC One show that sees a group of traitors, of which Burns is one, meet up in private to “murder” the faithfuls, with the aim of trying to win a charity prize pot.

The programme, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, has had a treasure trove of viral moments, and is said to be “the ultimate game of deceit and betrayal”, according to a description from the BBC.

Several stars from The Celebrity Traitors have appeared on CBeebies Bedtime Stories before, including actor Sir Stephen Fry and The Thursday Murder Club actress Celia Imrie, who will both have their episodes aired again this week.

Kicking things off, however, is the host of BBC Asian Network’s breakfast show, Nikita Kanda, who will bring her voice to the show on Monday in a story that celebrates light, freedom and the power of goodness as Diwali gets under way.

Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Kanda will read from Bandi Chhor Divas: Freedom Day by Gurpreet Kaur Bangar, illustrated by Areya Verma – a story that explains why Sikhs celebrate the festival of Bandi Chhor Divas.

Elsewhere, Downton Abbey and Paddington star Hugh Bonneville will read from the book Sleep Tight, Disgusting Blob, in a new episode airing at the end of the month for Halloween.

The book, by Welsh author and illustrator Huw Aaron, is a spooky rhyming tale about a slimy little monster.

Also reading a story is TV presenter and comedian Joel Dommett, who appears in an episode airing on Sunday October 26.

The Masked Singer host, 40, will read from A Hero Called Wolf, by Lucy Rowland, which contains the message that heroes can come in all shapes and sizes.

CBeebies Bedtime Stories is on each weekday at 6.50pm on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
