A significant milestone was marked recently with the official inauguration of the first modular home to be delivered to Limerick by Polish manufacturer, DMDmodular.
The home was delivered in partnership with Advanced Space Providers, a Limerick-based supplier of modular building solutions, with over 25 years of experience serving a wide range of sectors across the Irish market.
Artur Michalski, the Polish Ambassador to Ireland, attended the official inauguration along with Rafał Owczarek, Head of Trade & Investment for the UK & Ireland at the Polish Investment and Trade Agency and Ewelina Wozniak-Szpakiewicz, CEO of DMDmodular.
Speaking at the inauguration event, Tomás Healy, owner of Advanced Space Providers, commented: “We are proud to be partnering with DMDmodular, combining our local expertise with their global innovation to deliver high-quality modular solutions.”
Advanced Space Providers have taken delivery of a one and a two-bedroomed modular home, fully compliant with Irish building regulations and designed to meet the growing demand for affordable, high-quality housing in Ireland.
DMDmodular is one of Europe's most experienced modular construction firms, with residential and hospitality projects completed in the UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Denmark.
The company builds entire properties in factory-controlled conditions using 3D volumetric technology, reducing construction times and emissions while enhancing quality.
DMDmodular’s track record includes delivering student housing, hotels, social housing and multi-family developments across Europe, including a recently completed 50-bedroomed, four-storey modular hotel for Hampton by Hilton at Bristol Airport.
Another significant project is a soon-to-be completed purpose built 148-room, four-storey student accommodation facility in Edinburgh, Scotland.
DMD understand the importance of preserving the natural environment and produce eco friendly and sustainable modular buildings that minimise their carbon footprint and require minimal energy to operate. In 2023, DMDmodular was awarded the Sustainable Product of the year by the Polish Green Building and Construction Council.
This multi-family use development comprising of 29 apartments was a government-awarded project funded entirely by EU funding due to its excellence in energy efficiency and sustainable building methods.
Advanced Space Providers is the exclusive Irish distributor of DMDmodular systems. The company works with local developers, housing bodies and public-sector partners to adapt and deliver modular solutions suited to the Irish climate, regulatory environment and community needs.
A recent announcement to allow standalone structures of up to 40 square metres to be built within the gardens of existing properties without planning permission is welcome news for many in need of additional space for extended families, homecare for the elderly, etc.
These modular units are ideal for multi-use scenarios – i.e. social & affordable housing, student accommodation, staff accommodation, accommodation for essential workers and tourist-related uses, etc.
Modular construction – which is already widely adopted across mainland Europe – offers a fast, efficient and sustainable solution to the housing crisis and DMDmodular in partnership with Advanced Space Providers provides an exceptional product to meet these needs.
