Starkey technology - innovation in a small package
At Midland Hearing Care we specialise in providing bespoke hearing technology solutions to patients with hearing loss. One of the first questions asked by a newly diagnosed hearing loss patient is: ‘Will I be able to have a hearing aid that is discreet and invisible in my ear?’
Starkey – the art of small
When looking for a neat and discreet hearing aid technology solution, look no further - our clinic offers the Starkey Signature Series range of the smallest invisible-in-canal (IIC) and completely-in-canal (CIC) battery-operated hearing aids. To provide the best of both worlds, we also offer a range of completely-in-canal (CIC) custom rechargeable hearing aid solutions, compatible with smartphone app and hearing aid accessories as well.
Hearing loss statistics in Ireland
Did you know that in Ireland people with untreated hearing loss wait nearly seven to ten years before undergoing a formal assessment of hearing? Hearing loss is currently estimated to occur in one in five people over the age of sixty. It is estimated that one in twelve people in Ireland will acquire a permanent hearing loss. Research indicates that 50 per cent of those over seventy-five years of age, say that they experience some degree of hearing loss, according to the Irish Longitudinal Study of Ageing (Tilda, 2023) Trinity College Dublin.
Hearing loss stigma
Today, despite wonderful hearing aid technology advancements and the availability of smaller, more powerful hearing aid technology solutions – there is still a stigma associated with hearing loss and ageing. With a cohort of people with untreated hearing loss, delaying rehabilitation of their hearing loss or not wanting to wear hearing aids that are visible to others.
