Two young men killed in Co Mayo road crash

Two male teenagers have been killed in a road crash in Co Mayo.

Three other teenagers were injured in the single-vehicle collision in Ballina on Sunday.

Shortly after 4.15am, gardai and emergency services responded to a collision involving a car on a road at Laghtadawannagh.

Two of the car’s occupants, both adult males in their late teens, died at the scene.

Three other occupants – two boys in their mid-teens and one female in her late teens – were taken by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital.

Their injuries are not life-threatening.

The coroner has been notified and post-mortem examinations will be conducted.

The road remains closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local traffic diversions in place.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
