Passenger and pedestrian injured in hit-and-run crash in Co Cavan

A car passenger is in a critical condition and a pedestrian has also been injured in a hit-and-run crash in Co Cavan.

The incident took place on L1513 Drumlark, Loreto Wood, shortly after 6.45pm on Tuesday.

The male driver of the vehicle left the scene on foot, gardai said.

The passenger, a man aged in his 20s, was seriously injured.

He was taken from the scene to Cavan General Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 20s, was taken to the same hospital for treatment for non life-threatening injuries.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are to attend scene.

The road has been closed in both directions and local diversions are in place.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision and any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage, including dashcam, and were in the area between 6.30pm and 7pm to make this footage available to investigating officers.
