An Garda Síochána is now hiring for a civilian job with a starting salary of €168,138

An Garda Síochána is now accepting applications for a senior position as it seeks to recruit a new Chief Information Officer, a role which is the equivalent of Assistant Secretary.

According to an advert, which has been posted online and on social media, it is a full-time and permanent post, with the first year being subject to probation. The position is based in Garda Headquarters, Phoenix Park, Dublin 8.

The successful candidate will enjoy a starting salary of €168,138, rising to €192,339 per year. The successful candidate will lead the organisation’s digital, data, and technology strategies, supporting the needs of a 24/7 national policing and security service.

The key responsibilities of the role include developing IT and data strategies, driving digital transformation, ensuring strong cybersecurity measures, overseeing major budgets, and fostering innovation through technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and data analytics.

Candidates applying for the role of Chief Information Officer must hold a minimum Level 8 qualification in a relevant discipline or have accreditation from an appropriate professional organisation. They must also have a significant track record in senior IT or data leadership roles within large, complex organisations.

Experience in budget management and governance, delivering innovative change programmes, and operating at executive or board level is essential.

Other key skills include strategic thinking, exemplary leadership, high performance delivery, and specialist expertise in emerging technologies and cybersecurity.
