Dani Dyer-Bowen broke down in tears on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins as the five remaining contestants received video calls from their family members at home ahead of the show’s final episode.
The Channel 4 show sees 14 celebrity contestants undergo an intense version of a Special Forces selection course, putting them through extreme mental and physical challenges.
On Sunday night, the penultimate episode of the reality TV show saw the remaining five celebrities receive phone calls from their loved ones.
The former Love Island star, 29, was seen tearful during a video call with her husband, West Ham United footballer Jarrod Bowen, and their twin daughters, Summer and Star.
The reality TV star broke down in tears and said: “This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my entire life.”
Her husband, 29, offered her words of encouragement, and said: “Go all the way, because you know you want it. You’ve got this far.”
The episode also saw former Love Islander Gabby Allen speak to her mother, and retired Olympic swimmer Emily Seebohm speak to her father.
World Cup-winning former rugby player Ben Cohen received a call from his ex-teammate, Steve Thompson, and was seen emotional during their conversation.
Cohen, 47, said: “It’s been soul-searching. Tough, really tough.
“I’ve had some really horrible mental battles.”
However, Australian former Olympic swimmer Mack Horton refused to answer a phone call from his wife, and when questioned he told staff that when the couple are separated, he prefers to isolate himself so he can keep his focus.
The episode also saw the recruits take on two tasks, pushing them to their mental and physical limits.
The first challenge saw the contestants run up a series of hills in 40C heat while carrying 15kg Bergen backpacks, and midway through they had to pick up a number of heavy objects – including jerry cans, chains and tyres – as they continued their uphill battle.
Allen, 33, was seen falling to the floor due to the weight of the heavy chains around her neck, while Dyer-Bowen told instructors: “My body can’t take any more. I’m in so much pain.”
Later in the episode, the next challenge saw the contestants sent on the run, split into two groups, tasked with racing four miles through hostile terrain to a safe house, using clues provided by informants on their route.
The task ended with both teams being captured and taken hostage, leaving viewers waiting in anticipation to see what happens next.
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins returns to Channel 4 on Monday at 9pm.
