Doireann Garrihy has reveled the "politics" surrounding planning a wedding and how she was "saved" during a car accident as she joins her former RTÉ colleague on their new podcast.
Doireann joined Carl Mullen on the first episode of his new podcast Phone Truths.
The pair previously hosted
2FM Breakfast with Donncha O'Callaghan up until Doireann left the show in May.
As the pair were reuinted, Doireann explained: "The prep for the wedding is going fantastic. All of the fundementals are going done and it is kind of that stage where all of the last minute decision you have to make you have to wait for family or whatever. We won't talk about family and weddings. Ah no they are great but you know."
They pair are due to get married this October in the K Club Hotel and Golf Estate in Kildare.
Carl laughed in agreement before saying: "There are loads of politics in weddings. You are in the sh**e part of it now but when you get to the day it is all done."
Doireann said: "People can stick the oar in Carl. This is our day and we want to be able to look back and say we did it our way."
Later on in the episode Doireann discussed a scary car accident she was in ten years ago but where a phone call a stranger made to her dad using her phone saved her.
"I wrote off a car on the M7 about ten years ago. I used to teach speech and drama and I used to go down every Saturday to Ennis to teach classes there. I used to get up around six and be down there for ten. There was one morning in particular in January and my dad text be 'be careful, roads are dodgey.' I got onto the motorway and it all seemed fine. I was coming up to Moneygall and it started to sleet and I slowed down massively and all of a sudden I was going up a hill and my back wheels went and I tried to compensate and go the other way but my car went up to the top of the hill and flipped three times back onto the road and I was on my side.
"It felt like a movie. I went to stand up and open the passenger door and I heard a man say 'don't move' and he lifted me like a baby under the arm and said 'don't move your neck, who can we ring' and he rang my dad off my phone. My dad's phone rings and the man went 'hi is this Doireann's dad?'. My dad was gone like a light and he got there quicker than he should have been able to. That man I will never forget him. I hate that I don't know that man now and I hate that I never took his number. There wasn't a scratch, the only thing the glove box opened and my Samantha Mumba CD hit me in the head and I think it was because it wasn't January and I looked like the Michelin Man and didn't move. My dad came then and got me into his jeep and saved the day."
